Ahh…Cappella vocal workshop
The Euphorics are an energetic and experienced vocal quartet, who, since 1983, have been performing on television, radio and the concert stage and at schools, festivals and special events of all kinds. Members of the Euphorics are studio singers, songwriters, producers, instrumentalists and arrangers who wear many hats in the music business.

This workshop is designed specifically for Junior and Senior Secondary level music students.

To begin the session the Euphorics will perform a few songs to familiarize the students with a cappella singing. The workshop will then proceed as a forum, covering such topics as:

Performance skills:

  • Relating to an audience
  • Relationg to group members on stage
  • How to recover from mistakes
  • Professionalism
  • Humour
  • "Bits and skits"
  • Selling a song
  • Introductions to songs
  • Choreography
  • Costuming and make-up
 

Vocal technique:

  • Blend
  • Tone
  • Pitch
  • Vibrato
  • Overcoming specific vocal difficulties
  • Selling a song
  • Improvisation
  • Avoiding vocal strain and damage
  • Vocal warm-ups

Choosing repertoire/vocal arranging:

  • Original versus cover material
  • What makes a song appropriate for a cappella arrangements
  • "On paper" or "by ear" arrangements
  • Choosing vocal parts
  • Beginnings and endings of songs
  • Vocal percussion

Making a living in the music business:

  • Jingles and other session work
  • Song-writing
  • Recording
  • Putting together promotional material
  • Management
  • Showcases and venues

The Euphorics vocal workshop is not a rigid scripted presentation. The amount of time spent on each topic and any other topics not mentioned above will be determined by the questions of the students (and teachers).

Length of workshop: 1-2 hours
Cost: $700 - $850)
